Grado Labs and Plogue Present
‘Kaleidoscope’ Remix Contest
Contest period: March 15th — April 30th, 2015
Submissions are closed. Thanks for participating!
Famicom legend and composer of the original Ninja Gaiden game, Keiji Yamagishi, released his first-ever solo album in February to high praise from critics and fans alike. Retro-Active Pt. 1 saw Yamagishi dabble in a remarkable fusion of chiptunes and modern sounds, introducing live guitar and Vocaloid to his music compositions for the first time.
Brave Wave is collaborating with two incredible sponsors, headphone masters Grado Labs and plug-in creators Plogue to hold a remix competition for the disco-infused Kaleidoscope, a collaboration track between Keiji Yamagishi and Mega Man's very own Manami Matsumae. The two legendary composers co-wrote this track together, and now it's your chance to join the club and make it your own.
The Grand Prize Winner will receive:
- Their winning remix released on the upcoming Keiji Yamagishi remix album Retro-Active Pt. 1 REMIXED, alongside Chipzel (of Super Hexagon), ABSRDST (of Nest HQ) and others. Your remix will be professionally mastered by our award-winning Swiss engineer Dan Suter.
- Grado PS500e Professional Series headphones. Open air, dynamic cans. Handmade in Brooklyn, New York City. Comes with a special letter of authenticity from Grado Labs, signed by CEO and owner John Grado, his son Jonathan Grado, and the musician Keiji Yamagishi. (Approximate value: USD 600)
- Three audio plugins from Plogue: chipsounds, chipcrusher, and chipspeech. Used by Keiji Yamagishi himself in the Retro-Active albums. (Approximate value: USD 230)
- A ¥30,000 (JPY) cash reward.
All contestants will be personally heard and judged by a special committee formed by Brave Wave, including the composer Keiji Yamagishi!
