Dear music fans and supporters,
During these trying times, together with our artists we've decided to make our entire original (non-soundtrack) music catalogue available for a "pay-what-you-want" fee, starting today and for the next two weeks. We are highlighting a few selected favorites with a brief summary below. But please visit our Bandcamp store for the full catalogue!
We don't often get the time to sit down and simply enjoy our favorite music without any distractions, so we invite you to do just that, for any price you see fit, or if you want, for free! And please share your discoveries with friends and loved ones.
Lastly, we implore you to take care of yourselves and your communities by limiting your outdoor activities. Please listen to the instructions of your government and of the healthcare professionals in your area.
We can get through this together!
— Love,
Your friends at Brave Wave
Our newest solo release from Fourge is a hypnotizing, deliberate and intricate ambient album, unlike anything you’ve heard from Brave Wave before. Fourge fuses beautiful harmonies, lush pads, pianos and experimental sounds with a rich and layered production style. The result is a 75-minute ambient album that’s as pretty as it is atmospheric and mysterious. We think that it’s the perfect album to work, read, and write with. Every track is accompanied with suitable photography, taken by label director Mohammed Taher around Switzerland's vast Alpine highlands. Your album download also comes with six 6K wallpapers.
World 1-2: The Complete Collection is our very first compilation album, and a fine entry to the label’s unrelenting exploration of genres. Featuring renowned video game composers such as Video Game Orchestra (Final Fantasy XV), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Manami Matsumae (Mega Man), Keiji Yamagishi (Ninja Gaiden), Austin Wintory (Journey), Eirik Suhrke (Spelunky), Ben Prunty (FTL), Metroid Metal, Stemage, Danimal Cannon, Monomirror — and many more.
The Retro-Active Experience is the very first solo album from the legendary Ninja Gaiden composer Keiji Yamagishi. Although the album had been in development since before the establishment of Brave Wave as a Japanese company back in 2012, it only fully wrapped up in 2019. The album includes 14 original tracks from Keiji Yamagishi, including collaborations with Manami Matsumae (of Mega Man), Ryuichi Nitta (of Ninja Gaiden II) and other guests. The album also includes the 2018 MAGFest live show, performed by Brave Wave’s in-house band Super Strikers where every instrument in the original album was deconstructed as a rock-infused VRC-6 symphony.
“This really brings back the feels from when I used to play ninja gaiden and mega man 2 on the NES. So much emotion squeezed into those complex melodies. It's good to know the creators of these awesome timeless tunes are still doing it like they used to, and can still grab me and take me for a ride, even though we're all a little older now.” — demicon on Bandcamp
Three Movements is the solo album of Manami Matsumae, released exactly thirty years after she had composed Mega Man for Capcom, establishing the identity and the musical themes for the blue bomber which are present to this day. The album is split into three distinct sections — chiptunes, experimental electronica, and orchestra — and although Matsumae-san is hailed as the empress of chiptunes by her fans, she expertly nails down all her genre explorations in this legacy-defining body of work.
“This album is such an outstanding experience. Each piece is so different from the next, and you can really feel the inspiration behind every track.” — twdor on Bandcamp
Despite her experience with a variety of games, Saori Kobayashi is known as the composer of Panzer Dragoon Saga, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Crimson Dragon. And despite Terra Magica being an original solo album, she modeled it after her iconic Panzer Dragoon sound palette that is still uniquely hers to this day. The album features famed vocalist Eri Ito (of Panzer Dragoon Saga) and the legendary Panzer Dragon artist Manabu Kusunoki as the final seal of approval to this love letter for the fans.
“Open skies above a sea of dunes and the welcoming fire of a dragon rider making camp for the night. The allure of Kobayashi-san's exotic musical world never fades, and I hope this imaginative, warm-hearted solo album will be the first of many. Panzer Dragoon lives.” — TigerTorakio on Bandcamp
Dugo is the alias of Takahiro Izutani, the co-composer of Bayonetta series, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Lingua Franca is the culmination of Izutani-san’s lifework throughout his career as a video game composer. Armed with his acoustic guitar and production chops, and featuring guitar players and violinists from Italy, this solo album explores the lush world of strings and emotion to a meticulous degree.
“Can't express how much this album touches my soul ❤” — Khaled Aldoosery
"Card of Darkness: The Remixes" is a remix album for the Apple Arcade game Card of Darkness, originally composed by Stemage. The album features a star-studded list of Brave Wave producers who collectively worked on games such as Ninja Gaiden, Tecmo Bowl, Mega Man 3, Wonder Boy, Sonic Mania, Bayonetta, and many more.
